Jingzhou City, between 111°15'～114°05' east longitude and 29°26'～31°37' north latitude, is located in the central and southern part of Hubei Province, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and the hinterland of the Jianghan Plain. It lies to Hannan District of Wuhan City in the east, and faces Jiayu County and Chibi City of Xianning City across the river in the southeast. Nanbinjiang is adjacent to Yueyang City, Hunan Province, and borders Yiyang City and Changde City; Jingzhou City is connected to Dangyang City, Zhijiang City, Yidu City and Wufeng County of Yichang City to the west, and Jingmen City, Qianjiang City and Xiantao City to the north. Its maximum horizontal distance between east and west is about 274.8 kilometers and maximum vertical distance between north and south is about 130.2 kilometers, with a zonal distribution across the Yangtze River, which traverses the whole city from west to east, with a total length of 483 kilometers. As an important national highway transportation hub and an important port city along the Yangtze River, Jingzhou City is known as a city of culture, a land of fish and rice and a tourist attraction. It is one of the first batch of 24 national historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council and has been successively identified as an excellent tourist city in China, a national garden city, a national sanitary city, a national double support model city, the second batch of national pilot city for urban design, the second batch of "Sino-German Ecological Demonstration City", a national production base for high-quality agricultural and sideline products and a fine chemical engineering base, a national demonstration zone for taking over relocated industries, a national planning zone for old industrial base adjustment and transformation, and a national large-scale heritage protection demonstration zone.
